Come paint in our studio with the wonderful watercolourist, Martha Bull. Experiment with colour, texture, and capturing light with this versatile and fun medium.

Yupo paper (impermeable, non porous and smooth) lifts the magic of watercolour to a whole new dimension. Yupo gives an artist the ability to rework an image unlike traditional watercolour. But Yupo’s best feature is the variety of textures attainable, a big step above what can be accomplished on traditional papers. These three workshops are designed to be taken together but any one workshop can also benefit beginners or seasoned watercolourists alike. Working on Yupo has opened up my painting practice and I want to share the discoveries I have enjoyed. I have become more adventurous and freer to make mistakes and learn from them. I believe my work to be more interesting, more spontaneous, with passages dominated by colour infusions and textures I have never accomplished before. 

Sometimes no matter how hard we work on a painting our results don’t meet our expectations. There are so many ways to mess up: a painting looks flat or is poor compositionally or does not have exciting value changes or the colour is lacking clarity or harmony. Yupo is a marvelous support to correct or reconstruct a watercolour painting. In this workshop we will take a watercolour painting on yupo and collage on top of it to bring new excitement and power to your painting.
