This workshop is ideal, whether an absolute beginner or looking for a refresher. Instruction from award-winning artist, Stephanie Schirm, will provide the visual tools needed to start the journey to good drawing practices.

Students will through exercises for drawing proficiency, learn drawing techniques, and finding new ways of seeing and thinking about drawing.

Work through line, shape and form, using expressive line, blind contour, tonal values and learn how to use visual tools to determine proportion and perspective.

Instruction will include demonstrations and examples of all techniques and exercises, as well as positive feedback.

Topics of exploration will include:

1. Line into shape and form- blind contour drawing

2. Shading techniques to create form

3. Using visual tools for proportion and perspective

4. What is Negative Space and why is it important

5. The still life and interconnection

6. How to observe and draw different textures in one drawing
